Driving Into Day Three of the GTA Online Rags to Riches Challenge
Are you looking to build a massive fortune in GTA Online without relying on luck or chance? Then this video is for you. In this four-part series, we show you how to go from a brand new, zeroed account in GTA Online to 10 million dollars in just two weekends – that’s four days of actual gameplay.
As we enter day three of our challenge, we have already worked our way to a small fortune owning the most lucrative solo business in the game. Now, we roll up our sleeves and work our way to the top with determination, patience, and a little elbow grease to make huge strides towards our multi-millionaire status in no time.
Meet Old Grumpy Gamers and the Challenge
I am Foreign, and my partner is Dan – together, we are Old Grumpy Gamers. In this third video of our GTA Rags to Riches series, we are focused on the agency setting up the Payphone hit mechanics and improving our skills with the Contract Mission series. We apologize in advance as today’s video will be a lot shorter and will involve some grinding. But these efforts will be worth it by the end of the next video.
For those new to our channel, you can catch up on our unique take on getting rich in GTA Online by checking out the playlist linked in the description and pinned comment. In our last video, we met Dax Luchadora and his troop, purchased an agency, did some security work, sorted out Johnny Guns, and retrieved Dre’s music. We also went through the details of what this series is about and how you can enter to get a chance to win a fully loaded, clean 10 million dollar account.
At the start of Day Three, we have just over 1.7 million dollars. We purchase the motorcycle club off-camera, but it was a waste of money, so we won’t worry about that. Whenever you see our hero registered as a president, just be sure that registering as a VIP does the same thing for the purposes of our exercise.
Setting Up Payphone Hits and Improving Contract Missions
Now, let’s get into the real action of Day Three. We start by setting up the Payphone hits. Register as a VIP under security serve in your interaction menu, then head to the agency exit and grab the chopper. Fly around for a few minutes while waiting for a call from Franklin or spotting a blue phone icon on the map.
When you spot a blue phone, put the chopper down, and walk over to the phone. Franklin will give you a quick briefing, and after a few seconds, additional information will appear on the screen. In one case, the objective was to assassinate a judge on a golf course using a remote bomb for a massive bonus. Once you square away the briefing, move on to the Contract Mission series.
In our last installment, we went through all the missions in one sitting, which took four to five hours. Fortunately, for subsequent playthroughs, we can skip the cutscenes and avoid waiting for Franklin or Armani to do their thing. We don’t have to leave and come back to trigger phone calls, and we don’t need to do the initial setup missions anymore. That makes the Contract series much quicker, around 90 minutes, instead of close to five hours.
Our loop for this day is straightforward. After each mission, we pop to Ammunition to stock up on body armor and ammo, head back to the agency to grab some snacks, then fire up the PCS to start the next mission. The loop includes:
- Nightclub Mission – go loud, take out everyone you can, grab the tapes, and get out
- Marina Investigations – find the boat, disable air defenses, search for a poster, then escape
- Country Club Investigation – hack the console, pop the door, blow up the limo, frisk the driver, and escape
- Lawyer’s Place – sniper the guards, zap the lawyer, and escape
After completing these missions, we move on to the mini-finales, including catching the DJ at the nightclub and sorting out gang members at the South Central League. Finally, we wrap up with the Studio Time and the finale, which involves tracking down Johnny Guns at the freight yard, giving him a beating, and delivering Dre to his chopper.
The Competition and Conclusion of Day Three
We end Day Three with one final pay phone hit. After the series cooldown, give Franklin a call, and select “request pay phone hit” from the options. If you are prompted to restart the Contract series by the end of the hit, it’s a bonus. If not, call Franklin for a security contract and do it again.
We should be able to complete our loop four times over the course of this session, which should put us at a touch under 5 million dollars for the day’s conclusion, bearing in mind ammunition and body armor costs.
Our next exciting installment will continue our journey of punishing corrupt judges, failed tech entrepreneurs, and Johnny Guns. We will move closer towards achieving our GTA Rags to Riches challenge and giving away a fully loaded, clean 10 million GTA Online account to one lucky winner.
