There are 15 business’ you can buy in GTA 5 Story Mode. And they can be broken down into 2 distinct types; passive, where the business will earn you money regardless of what you’re doing in game; and active, where you actually have to complete missions to run it.

There’s also this weird thing going on with the car scrap yard, where is active, but your weekly earnings are capped; but we’ll get into that a bit later.

Grand Theft Auto is a truly massive game. Between GTA 5 and the constant updates from Rockstar for GTA Online; there’s no shortage of new content and interesting things to do.

Let’s start with the Hen House at $80,000. Given it’s location, it has limited earning potential and only brings in $920 per week; that means it’s going to take roughly 487 hours of gameplay to recover your investment.

Next is the LSPD Auto Impound lot at $150,000. This is an active business where you get $500 per pick up. To break even, you need to do 300 tow truck missions; which translates to roughly 20 hours – so probably not a great investment.

The McKenzie Field Hangar is actually the first business you can buy in GTA Story Mode, and it comes in at around $150,000. This is another active one, and it has some interesting mission and is great flight and driving practice – plus it only takes about 4 hours of gameplay to break even. So you, I think this is a solid investment.

On to the Downtown Cab Company at $200,000. This happily does it’s own thing; but only brings in $2,000 per week, which translates to 550 hours of gameplay before you get your money back.

Heading to Vespucci Beach, it’s Smoke on the Water, next; at $204,000. With weekly earnings of $9,300 it will take a little over 120 hours to get your money back.

Next is one of the best active business’ in the game; the Sonar Collections Dock. At $250,000 this gives you a Submarine, Dinghy and access to the Nuclear Waste Collection missions, which all up, will net you $630,000 in profit on only 2 hours of work. Definitely worth it.

OK, the Car Scrap Yard at $275,000. The premise of this sounds great; $150 per car destroyed under any circumstance, in the Greater Los Santos area. Nice right? Until you realise the earnings are capped at $5,000 per week. That means, even if you rampage all the time, destroy hundreds of cars, and do the whole thing using free ammo drops; it will still take north of 300 hours to recover your money..

Next is the Blaine County Los Santos Customs. This one’s a bit of a hidden gem, at $349,000. It only brings in $1,600 per week; which equates to over 1,200 hours of gameplay – so you’re never getting your money back… But, Franklin gets free car customisations if he owns it – so it will absolutely pay for itself in savings, if you’re a bit of a car nut.

The Biker Bar, Hookies comes in at $600,000 and nets you $4,700 per week. At 716 hours to get your money back, it’s probably a waste.

Pitchers is next on the list at $750,000. It picks up $7,100 per week without you having to do much, but that still works out to a little over 590 hours of gameplay. That’s a lot – so I wouldn’t worry about getting this one.

Tequi-la-la is $2,000,000. It sounds like a solid investment with a weekly income of $16,500; but that still means nearly 680 hours of gameplay to recover your funds.

Next up we have the cinemas; starting with the Doppler at $10,000,000. It’s a solid earner at $132,000 per week; but that equates to around 480 hours to recover your cash, making it not worthwhile.

The Ten Cent Theater at $20,000,000 is probably going to give you better ROI at $264,000 per week; but that only works out marginally better, with it taking about 430 hours to recover your money.

…and the Tivoli is utterly rubbish, at a cost of $30,000,000 but a weekly income of only $142,000 – it will take you 1,180 hours of gameplay to see any kind of return on this.

Finally, the Los Santos Golf Club at a whopping $150,000,000. This squeaks out the Ten Cent Theater for earnings, at $264,500 per week. Sounds good, right? Best earner in the game. Well, that’s 3,175 hours of gameplay.

hi in this video we’ll be going through
which businesses you should buy and which ones to avoid in gta 5 story mode
hi and welcome back my name’s Dan and i’m an old grumpy gamer grand theft auto is a truly massive
game between gta 5 and the constant updates from rockstar for gta online there’s no shortage of
new content and interesting things to do join me then for our series every business in gta 5 as
we look at all of the grand theft auto story mode businesses before we dive in if you’re
new to the channel we do how-to guides news and giveaways so consider subscribing ring the bell
to stop today and of course for a more in-depth breakdown of each business check out the links in
the description below there are 15 businesses you can buy in gta 5 story mode and they can be broken
down into two distinct types passive where the business will earn you money regardless of what
you’re doing in-game and active where you actually have to complete missions to run it there’s also
this weird thing going on with the car scrapyard where it’s kind of active but your weekly earnings
are capped but we’ll get into that a bit later oh and for this guide we won’t be worrying about the
vanilla unicorn because you don’t actually buy that one trevor just um takes position so let’s
start with the hen house at 80 grand given its location it has limited earning potential and
only brings in 920 per week that means it’s going to take roughly 487 hours of gameplay
to recover your investment so that’s a big old nope on that one next is the lspd auto impound
lot at 150 000. this is an active business where you get 500 per pickup to break even you need to
do 300 tow truck missions which translates roughly to 20 hours so probably not a great investment but
if you really like doing the tonya missions go for it i guess the mckenzie field hangar is actually
the first business that you can buy in gta 5 story mode and it comes in at around 150 grand
this is another active one and it has some really interesting missions it’s great flight and driving
practice too plus it only takes about four hours of gameplay to break even so i think it’s a
solid investment onto the downtown cab company at 200 this happily does its own thing but only
brings in two grand per week which translates to roughly 550 hours of gameplay before you get your
money back so that’s a note for that one heading to vespucci beach it’s smoke on the water next at
204 000. with weekly earnings of 9 300 it’ll take you a little over 120 hours to get your money back
so if you’re planning on taking your time and 100 in the game it’s a definite maybe next is
one of the best active businesses in the game the sonar collection dock at 250 grand this gives you
a submarine a dinghy and access to the nuclear waste collection missions which all up net you
six hundred and thirty thousand in profit for only roughly two hours work definitely
worth it oh and it also unlocks abigail’s missions as well which is a nice plus
okay the scrapyard at 275 000. the premise of this one sounds really really good a hundred
and fifty dollars per car destroyed under any circumstance in the greater los santos area nice
right until you realize the earnings are capped at five thousand dollars per week that means even
if you rampage all the time destroy hundreds of cars and do the whole thing using free ammo
drops it will still take you north of 300 hours to recover your money that’s nope nope and nope again
next is the blaine county los santos customs this one’s a bit of a hidden gem at 349 000 it
only brings in at 1600 per week which equates to roughly 1200 hours of gameplay so you’re never
getting your money back but franklin gets free car customizations if he owns it so it will absolutely
pay for itself in savings if you’re a bit of a car nut definitely worth grabbing the biker bar
cookies comes in at 600 grand and nets you roughly 4 700 per week at 716 hours to get your money back
it’s probably a waste though pictures is next on the list at 750 000 it picks up 7 100 per week
without you having to do much but still works out to a little over 590 hours of gameplay and that’s
a lot so i wouldn’t worry about taking this one either the last of the watering holes available
is a tequila at 2 million even sounds like a solid investment with a weekly income of 16 500
but that still means nearly 680 hours of gameplay to recover your funds and most players will never
get near this number so don’t waste your money next up we have the cinemas starting with the
doppler at 10 million dollars it’s solid earner at 132 000 per week but that still equates to
480 hours of gameplay so recovering your cash will probably take a while that’s a no for that one the
next one is the 10 cent theater at 20 million and it’s probably going to give you a better roi at
264 000 per week but that only just works out to marginally better than the doppler with it still
taking roughly 430 hours to recover your money the tivoli is utter rubbish at a cost of 30 million
and a weekly income of only 142 000 it will take you 1180 hours of solid game play to see any kind
of return on this so that’s a no for that one finally the one you’ve been waiting for the los
santos golf club at a whopping 150 million dollars this squeaks out the 10 cent theater for earnings
at 264 500 per week sounds good right best earner in the game well that’s 3175 hours of gameplay to
get your money back now to put that in perspective if gta story mode is your full-time job and you
played for 7.5 hours per day five days per week without any holidays or break it would take you
85 weeks to get your money back that’s more than a year and a half of real world playing it’s a
great flex but a rubbish investment so there you have it if we’re talking return on investment
only my recommendation is to grab the mckenzie airfield hangar the sonar collection stock plane
county lost santos customs and then forget about the rest and thanks for watching check out the
playlist up the top for the detailed business breakdowns or the link down the bottom for some
more old grumpy game of goodness stay safe wash your hands and we’ll see you in the next video
