Maximizing Your Income in Grand Theft Auto 5: A Strategic Stock Market Guide
If you’re looking to become a billionaire in the world of Grand Theft Auto 5, then this guide is for you. By strategically investing in the stock market, you can net your characters over 6 billion dollars combined. In this guide, we’ll take you through each step to help you achieve this massive windfall.
Starting Out
Assuming that you’re on a fresh playthrough or haven’t started Lester’s Assassination missions yet, you’ll want to follow the natural mission progression. Once you’ve completed “Hood Safari,” you should have a few Strangers and Freaks missions available. These include Barry’s first Grassroots missions, Nigel and Mrs. Thornhill’s introduction, Cletus’s first mission “Target Practice,” Maude’s introduction, and Marianne’s first mission “Exercising Demons.”
The first step is to complete all of Maude’s bounty hunting missions using Trevor to net an additional $40,000 in capital. While playing as Trevor, complete Nigel and Mrs. Thornhill’s missions, which will add another $10,000 or so to your kitty. Don’t worry about the submarine missions, though, as there’s no net gain there.
Next, switch to Michael and complete the Epsilon Institute missions, making sure to steal the funds at the end. This will net you an additional $2 million in investment capital.
Finally, we’re ready to start Lester’s first mission, but before doing so, make a hard save and visit the stock market on each character’s phone. Invest everything into Beta Pharmaceuticals that’s bet at around the $460 mark. After this mission, monitor the stock prices for 12 to 18 hours. You can do this by quickly heading back to Franklin’s house, entering and exiting the save menu each time to advance time by six hours. After two to three rounds of this, which equals roughly 12 or 18 hours of in-game time, you can sell the stock for around $690, netting you a 50% return. Wait another two in-game days, then purchase Bilkington Research, that’s bil, for around $69.
Strategic Investments
The next investment opportunity requires a little bit of forward planning. After Franklin and Trevor complete “Eye in the Sky,” where you steal the car using the police chopper, load up each character with ammo so you can go without cash for a bit. Then buy Vangelico at around 42. A few missions later, after “Minor Turbulence,” where Trevor boards a plane with a stolen vehicle, Evangelico will spike to north of 68, netting you a profit of between $40 and $50.
Our next investment opportunity isn’t quite as lucrative but still worth the effort. After completing “Surveying the Score,” you’ll need to tally up again as we’ll need to get through a few extra missions this time without cash. Then purchase the Gru or Group Securities stock for around $131. Continue the storyline until you complete “Fresh Meat,” where Franklin rescues Michael from Chang. Wait 12 to 36 in-game hours, then sell for above $150. This should net you an additional $15 to $20.
The next opportunity comes after completing the finale and works regardless of which ending you end up on. After completing one of the endings and receiving the Union Depository funds from Lester, invest in Augury Insurance, that’s AUG, whose stock tanked due to the heist. You should be able to pick up shares for around $28 each. Wait two to three in-game days, then divest at roughly $55. This should net you around $100 in gains.
Assassination Missions
Now that we’ve completed the preliminary steps, it’s time to start the assassination missions. But before we do, make sure that Franklin is geared up with a sniper rifle, ammunition, a suppressor, a heavy machine gun, and an RPG with ammunition.
The first mission is the Multi-Target Assassination, where you’ll want to sync your funds into Debonaire at or below $137. Once the mission is complete, wait for 18 to 24 in-game hours, then sell it around $195, netting you around $40 to $50 in gains.
Once that’s complete, wait for Redwood (RWC) to dip, which normally takes 24 to 36 in-game hours, and purchase it around $10. Wait another three to four in-game days, then exit at $34, a whopping 300% increase.
The Vice Assassination won’t quite net the same gains as the last one, but it all helps. Start by purchasing Fruit (FRT) at around $419. Once the mission is complete, sell for around $520, netting between 22% and 26% return. Then immediately purchase Facade (FAC) at $314 or better. Wait three to four in-game days, then sell for around $416, bringing about a 32% gain.
For the final major trade, we’re on to Lester’s last mission, the Construction Assassination. Prior to starting, purchase Gold Coast Developments (GCD) at or below $242. Note that it may be as low as $219. If you can get it around there, you’ll do very well out of this. Once the construction mod boss has been taken care of, wait one to two in-game days and exit your position at around $348, bringing a tidy 43% to 59% return. With that, each of your characters should be sitting on a little north of $2 billion to $2.1 billion, which is north of $6 billion combined.
