Any of the three protagonists will start the game, but the opening cutscene will be missed by beginning the mission with Franklin (usually if the player moves to Franklin after the Paleto Score Setup). Regardless, the player assumes care of Franklin and Chop in a Baller after a Dubsta featuring the remaining O’Neil brothers until the mission starts. Franklin calls Trevor and tells him that he is trailing the O’Neil brothers near North Chumash along the Great Ocean Highway, and Trevor tells Franklin that he and Michael are bound for Trevor’s helicopter at Sandy Shores Airfield.

Soon, the O’Neil brothers are heading into Raton Canyon, still chasing Franklin. The O’Neil brothers swerve to stop it, causing their car to roll down a hillside and crash and catch fire. An elk steps into the lane. The crash site is being searched by Franklin and Chop, only to find that the O’Neils have vanished into the bush. For aerial support, he calls Trevor.

The player is switched to Trevor at this stage. At Sandy Shores Airfield, Trevor and Michael arrive and board Trevor’s Frogger. They fly to the place of Franklin. Once there, the player is moved to Michael, who uses a thermal scope sniper rifle to destroy the O’Neils, a job complicated by the swarming of the field with deer whose thermal signatures are close to those of the O’Neils. Eventually, Michael kills Walton and Wynn, but Elwood, the remaining brother, hides behind a rock and begins firing rockets at the helicopter, ensuring that Michael is unable to shoot him.

The player is moved back to Franklin, who and Chop are both on the deck. Franklin is instructed by Michael to search Elwood. Then the player is advised to turn to Chop, who is chasing him down. Franklin leads Chop and kills Elwood at long last. Alternatively, the player can turn from the chopper to Michael and kill Elwood, since when Franklin reaches his place, Elwood can get out of his cover and attempt to run. Before flying back to Sandy Shores Airfield, the player is switched back to Trevor, who lands the Frogger to allow Franklin and Chop to board. At the airfield, Trevor lands the helicopter and the job is done.
