How to Get Gold in GTA 5 Mission Nervous Ron
Grand Theft Auto is a truly massive game, between GTA 5 and the constant updates for Rockstar for GTA online, there’s no shortage of new content and interesting things to do. Join us in our continuing series getting gold in every damn mission in GTA 5. In this video, we’ll take a look at Grand Theft Auto mission Nervous Ron, where we’ll have a crash course in flying a plane and acquire an abandoned airfield. Don’t forget to hang around until the end so you can catch our bonus tips on picking up precious seconds in this mission.
Overview
Like a lot of early missions, we’re in a bit of a timeline, so we recommend going for gold on a subsequent playthrough of this mission. If you try for gold on the first time out, you’ll miss a whole heap of important exposition. We also highly recommend picking up some body armor and a small automatic prior to starting. To get gold in this one, we’ll need to get five headshots, kill all the bikers while we’re laying on the wing of the plane, fly under six bridges, beat Ron in the race home, and do the whole thing in under 12 minutes.
Walkthrough
We join Trevor at his trailer, where we’ll jump straight onto one of the handy quads and head down to the local ammunition. Pick up some body armor, grab a sniper rifle and the advanced scope, and some ammo if you haven’t got any already. Load up with some other bits and pieces, including a grenade launcher. Jump on the quad and then do a little bit of cross country, heading for that water tower over the way. Jump off the bike, climb the ladder up to the tower, and then walk into the marker.
This is our first time using a sniper rifle, so it’s a bit of fun. Track him and take him out once he stops. Then, take out the first guard and pop the lights as well. Retain back onto Ron and wait for him to go to the next prompt. When the van comes up next, hold off taking the guy out until he’s finished on the phone. Wait for him to hop out of the truck, then take him out. There’s another guy up in the watchtower, so give him a pop and wait for his friend to come around. Once Ron comes over to rig the tank to blow, wait for the biker to stop and clip him. Take an extra moment to line up the chopper and try to get it on the first go.
Now, it’s time to take out all of the bikers while we’re on the wing of the plane. Don’t let any of them hit you or you’ll fall off. Be sure to grab the shotgun and Trevor’s ability once you’re back inside the hangar. Take out anyone that moves, use the ability when it’s night time, and take out the trucks as necessary. Don’t let the little buggers flank you either. Once you’re done, run into the plane, and you’ll automatically jump on the wing.
Now, we have to fly the plane under six bridges. It’s a bit of a challenge. Take a different approach to the valley to get through some of the bridges. Stay low and inside the valley. The plane may be a little bit jittery because we don’t have full marks on the piloting, but it’s still relatively easily controlled. Remember to stay low to avoid being pinged by the military base, and line yourself up for that marker on the left. Use your alien to line everything up spot on and drop inside the blue zone. Stay low and sneak through the bridges. Once you get through the hardest one, the rest are relatively easy.
Finally, it’s a fairly straight run to the airstrip. Gingerly put the plane into the ground and then slowly into the hanger. That’s gold. Congratulations!
Bonus Tips
Here are our top tips for saving precious seconds wherever we can:
- Keep your scope on Ron fully zoomed as he makes his way up to the hangar. This allows the game to know that you’ve sighted him and will move things along quicker.
- Take out the lights on the tower as early as practical. This will save Ron having to wait for them.
- Wait until your marker is well inside the drop zone before dumping your cargo so that you don’t have to circle around.
